October 23rd, 2007: I completed minor corrections requested by my external examiners and resubmitted my P.hD. to the University College of London (almost three years, to the day, after I start my doctorate).

October 16th, 2007: I was awarded, subject to minor corrections, the degree of Ph.D. – the externals were David Maguire (ESRI Inc.) and Chris Brunsdon (University of Leicester).

October 7th-9th, 2007: I will be presenting a paper at E-Social Sceince 2007 entitled 'Agent-Based Modelling of Pedestrian Evacuation: Benefits and Challenges of Using Grid Technology' at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA.

September 3rd-5th, 2007: I will be presenting a paper at Geocomputation 2007 entitled 'Key Challenges in Agent-Based Modelling for Geo-Spatial Simulation' at the National Centre for Geocomputation, National University of Ireland in Maynooth, Co. Kildare, Ireland.

April 25th-27th, 2007: I was invited to give a seminar about me research at the Department of Physics, University of Bologna, Italy.

March 2007: I authored another CASA working paper entitled:

March 7th, 2007: I gave my final presentation regarding the progress of my Ph.D. at CASA, London, England

September 25th - 29rd, 2006: I attended the European Conference on Complex Systems 2006 in Oxford, England. During the conference Andrew Crooks and I presented a paper entitled 'From Pedestrians to Cities: Exploring Urban Systems through Agent-Based Modelling' in a one day satellite workshop (Complexity and Dynamics: Volatility and Stability in City and Regional Systems).

September 18th - 23rd, 2006: I attended the the Agent 2006 conference in Chicago, USA. During the conference I presented a paper entitled 'Using Repast to Develop a Prototype Agent-Based Pedestrian Evacuation Model'.

Before the conference I will be attending the three day Repast modelling workshop, also in Chicago.

Nordic Seminar of Crisis Management

September 13-14, 2006: I was invited to present a paper related to my Ph.D. at the Nordic Seminar of Crisis Management, Stockholm, Swden. The seminar was organised by the National Land Survey of Sweden.

August 2006: I have contributed an article entitled 'How to create a .pgm file from an .ascii file' to the 'gis and agent-based modelling' blog. The blog contains several interesting articles about principles of the ABM toolkit Repast, with a regular posts called 'Repast Model of the Week'.

August 29th - September 1st, 2006: I will be chairing a joint Post Graduate Forum / Quantitative Methods Research Group (QMRG) presentation session at this year's RGS-IBG Annual International Conference, to be held at Kensington Gore, London.

April 5-7th, 2006: I attended the 14th GIS Research UK (GISRUK) conference in Nottingham, England. During the conference I co-authored a paper, presented by Paul Longley, entitled 'Agent-Based Modelling and Simulation using Repast: A Gallery of GIS Applications from CASA'.

 

March 4th, 2006: I attended the RGS-IBG Post-Graduate Mid-Term Conference at the University of Newcastle, England. During the conference I adopted my role as co-chair of the committee.

January 19th, 2006: I attended a workshop about Agent-Based Models at CASA in the Centre for Enterprise and the Management of Information, UCL, London. During the workshop I gave a presentation about the use of the Recursive Porous Agent Simulation Toolkit (Repast) within my research.

November 30th, 2005: I gave a presentation presenting the progress of my Ph.D. at CASA, London, England. My presentation was entitled 'A GIS-Based Spatial Decision Support System (SDSS) for Emergency Services: London’s King’s Cross Redevelopment - A Progress Report'.

August 31st - September 2nd, 2005: I attended the RGS-IBG conference in London. During the conference I presented a paper in the Quantitative Methods Research Group (QMRG) session, entitled 'A Review of Current Pedestrian Simulation Programs Integration Possibilities within ArcGIS'.

Innovations in GIS Book Series

June 2005: Final revision of book chapter submitted for inclusion within 'Innovations in GIS' series. The chapter is entitled: 'Multiple Windows on Accessibility: An Evaluation of Campus Buildings by Mobility Impaired and Able-Bodied Participants using PPGIS'.

June 29th-July 1st, 2005: I attended the Computer in Urban Planning and Urban Management (CUPUM) at the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis, London. During the conference I presented a paper entitled 'A GIS-Based Spatial Decision Support System (SDSS) for Emergency Services: London’s King’s Cross Redevelopment'.

February 19th, 2005: I attended the RGS-IBG Post-Graduate Mid-Term Conference in Nottingham, England. I presented a progress report of my Ph.D. entitled ' KXSDSSES: King’s Cross Spatial Decision Support System for Emergency Services - A Progress Report'. I was also elected co-chair of the committee.

December 1st, 2004: I gave my upgrade (from M.Phil. to Ph.D.) presentation at CASA, London, England. My presentation was entitled 'A GIS-Based Spatial Decision Support System (SDSS) for Emergency Services: London’s King’s Cross'.

November 29th, 2004: I was awarded best Young Researchers Prize at AGI awards 2004 (Picture), sponsored by Cadcorp. My paper was entitled 'Empowering disadvantaged and marginalised groups within planning process: Accessibility mapping through PPGIS'.

October 13th, 2004: An article about my research was published in GIS Professional's Launch Issue (November - December). The piece was entitled "3D visualisation to the rescue at London's King's Cross", page 19.
October 12-14th, 2004: I attended the Association of Geographical Information (AGI) Conference 2004, at Chelsea Village, London. I was invited to present my award winning paper entitled 'Empowering disadvantaged and marginalised groups within planning process: Accessibility mapping through PPGIS'.
August 18-20th, 2004: I attended the Regional Science Association International: British and Irish Section 34th Annual Conference, at the University College Cork, Ireland. During the conference I presented a paper entitled ‘Geodemographics for Managing Local Services: Kings Cross’.
April 29th, 2004: I was awarded best Young Researchers Prize at the 12th GIS Research UK Conference, University of East Anglia. My paper was entitled 'Empowering disadvantaged and marginalised groups within planning process: Accessibility mapping through PPGIS'.
