We have developed two user-friendly community reporting system, first for Bloomsbury, our local community in which UCL is located, and then for Richmond in South West London. These are bottom-up, anti-social behaviour reporting systems both funded by the Met Police, and operated by the local community associations. The system in Bloomsbury enables the community to report anti-social behaviour in an anonymous way that lets us to protect and enhance community values. The system is backed by the Bloomsbury Association and supported by UCL, and provides a basis for the community to record their impressions of safety and environmental issues ranging from drug use to environmental waste.
In Richmond, the system has been further developed, initially in the town centre coinciding with the introduction of late night licensing of the pubs in late 2006. The system there is supplemented by more graphic imagery but is built on the same base as the Bloomsbury system.
