You must populate the lattice by clicking on the cells you want to make live. Note that if you do not have sufficient density, life will die out and if there is congestion - too great a density, the same may happen. You must stop the simulation before you clear the screen to start another run, and note that it may look as though it has stopped if the picture does not change but this is simply convergence to a steady state.
